PRESPA REGION

Having a Continental climate condition, 850 m above the see level and close two lakes the Prespa valley is an excellent area for growing of apples. 
Prespa is a region where the apple production is present on approximately 3500 hectares. An average of a yearly production of apples in Prespa is approximately 100.000 tones. Almost 90% of an yearly production are exported in EU markets. 
Suitable growing condition, combined with tradition of apple production and enhanced with the advanced technology widely applied in production of apples has contributed to the fact that over 80% of produced apples are classified in fist class and, are complying with the ecological and other standards as final product for consumption.

That is the most concentrated apple production not only in the R. Macedonia but also in the whole region. At the moment nearly 2000 households – apple producers are registered in the region of Prespa which enables existence of nearly 8000 members of their narrowest families. Prespa is ranked among the first 20 regions in the world by average production of apple per inhabitant. Approximately, Prespa produces about 90% of the apples in Macedonia.
